The capasone is a &#8220;passage&#8221; container between the cellar barrel and the canteen jug. It is a poor artefact and intended for those who could not afford containers made of more noble materials.<br \/>Its name derives from the dialect adjective capase (capable) and indicates the largest of all containers. These containers, similar to jars, were used throughout Puglia to contain, in most cases wine, oil or vinegar. More rarely, dried figs and pickled olives. Their size could vary from a few liters to over a quintal. Towards the end of the belly there was usually a protruding nozzle. Even today in the Apulian territory there are hundreds of specimens still used to preserve the precious liquid or, more often, to decorate farms, cellars and historical places.<br \/>Obviously also at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortemanfredi.it\/en\/corte-manfredi-to-discover-salento\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Corte Manfredi<\/strong><\/a>, in Alessano it is possible to admire an ancient example dating back to 1800, intact and perfectly preserved, placed as a bulwark on the entrance stairs of the suite.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The most welcoming container \u2013 The capasone The capasone is the ceramic container par excellence and, without a shadow of a doubt, the most famous.
