The coastal towers of Salento<\/strong> represent an extraordinary historical and architectural heritage, witnesses of a past in which defense from Saracen and pirate incursions represented a primary necessity for coastal communities. Therefore, the entire Salento coast is dotted with towers, placed a few kilometers apart from each other, so that they could send signals visible from a distance (usually fire or smoke) to indicate imminent danger also for the hinterland.
\nAmong these, the Torre Pali Tower<\/strong> emerges as a symbol of resistance and vigilance along the fascinating Salento coasts. The Torre Pali tower, located in the southern part of Salento, is one of the numerous towers scattered along the coast, built in the 16th century during Spanish domination. This imposing structure, made of local stone, stands proudly against the sky overlooking the crystal clear waters that bathe the area. Its strategic position made it possible to promptly spot any threats coming from the sea, offering a valuable defense for local communities.
\nThe Torre Pali Tower, with its massive and imposing architecture, tells stories of past eras and of populations who were able to adapt and defend themselves along the Salento coasts. Today, this tower has become a symbol of the historical and natural beauty of Salento, attracting visitors who wish to explore its history and enjoy the breathtaking views offered by its privileged location. In fact it is the only tower in Salento to be completely surrounded and immersed in the sea. Once upon a time it wasn’t like this: the tower was positioned entirely on land, but coastal erosion and rising sea levels led to the current situation.
\nFurthermore, the area surrounding Torre Pali<\/strong> is known for its golden beaches and clear waters (it is part of the Maldives area of \u200b\u200bSalento<\/strong>), making the whole experience of visiting this tower even more fascinating. A trip to Torre Pali, which is also not far from Corte Manfredi<\/strong><\/a>, not only offers a dive into the history of Salento, but also the opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this enchanting region.<\/p>\n
